Bassist Needed!

My band is in the market for a bass player! If you are a bassist with some serious chops, cool with weird time signatures, changing tempos mid-song and lots of instrumental passages, then we should talk! Browse around this site to get an idea of what the band is all about, then reach out to me here. Age isn't important, as long as you are old enough to get into the venues legally & young enough to put on a good show!

It should go without saying, but I'll say it anyway: drug &/or alcohol issues are a deal breaker.  No drama, bla bla bla. You've heard it all before. We're looking for a great player with an all pro attitude, and we will bring the same.  I'll explain the situation with the current bassist near the end of this page.

Let's talk goals - if it were a perfect world and everything came together absolutely right, I'd like to play around 75 to 100-ish shows per year, with each member putting about $500 to $1,000 per show in their pocket.  BUT- it's not a perfect world and we will need to work pretty hard to hit that goal.  That said, you will get paid a minimum amount for every show.

As far as the shows themselves go, we're booking lots of opening slots, performing anywhere from 20 minutes to 60 minutes of the original music you can hear throughout this site. Should we really hit it out of the park & reach the ability to headline our own shows we would be doing around a 90 minute set, although we are currently doing shows where we perform 2 sets of 60 minutes each, which includes some cover tunes.  At every gig there will be a merch booth set up and everyone in the band will earn a cut of the merch sales. Initially the majority of the bookings will be near our home base, Rockford, IL, or the Quad Cities, but if the pay is right we will need to travel, perhaps even out of the country. (Is your passport up to date?)

There is much more to think about & discuss, but let's save that for an actual conversation. If this intrigues you at all, then contact me here and we can exchange phone numbers and talk. Thanks for giving it some thought.

About our current bassist:  He is a great guy and a very skilled bassist, but he has been playing bass as a favor to me. He is also a guitarist in another band, which is his main band. They were on a bit of a hiatus when I started my post-covid search for someone, and he agreed to jump in and help out. Now his band is no longer on hiatus and he needs to spend most of his time with them. He may be able to play certain gigs with my band, but this year (2026) I have had to turn down quite a few gigs due to scheduling conflicts. We have used tracks for the bass parts on some gigs, but I would much rather have a live, spicy human being playing bass. So - if you do not want to commit to 75 to 100 shows per year, let's talk anyway. He may be able to fill in on some dates.  Perhaps between the two of you, I can avoid turning down work.

A couple more notes: I can provide tab & isolated tracks for the bass parts.  I can work one-on-one with you a bit, too.  We keep a Google Calendar page for the band in order to keep gigs, rehearsals, black-out dates, etc straight. I think that's all for this page. Reach out with questions or to talk. Thanks!
