After a very, very long search (we're talking over 2 years) I'm thrilled to introduce you to the new bassist in my band: Guy Bazilewich. Guy has been part of the Midwest music scene for years, performing in a variety of tribute bands, such as DownPour (AC/DC), Black Hole Sun (Soundgarden/Audioslave), and others, plus some original projects as well. (Six Foot Model, Lonesome Fret)
Apparently, myths & legends surround him, such as the time he auditioned for an 80s hair band trying to make a comeback, but was rejected by the singer, who allegedly said "He's too cool. He will draw attention away from me and we can't have that!" I've not been able to verify the story, and all Guy said is "Hmmm."
True story or not, his cool factor is real, and that & his playing have earned him a spot in my band. We are in rehearsals right now and are working on bookings throughout the Midwest. You'll be the first to know when & where you can see us. We'll be playing material from my latest album that has never been played live before, as well as favorites from all of the other releases, so don't miss out!
We're also going to be dropping some emails, pictures, & videos every now & then with fun, behind-the-scenes content just for members of The Secret Club, such as yourself, so keep an eye out for that.
Many, many people have asked me why it was taking so long to find a new bassist, and what happened to all the others, including the bassist I hinted at in my January 2022 blog post. It's really kind of a long story, and maybe someday I'll tell the tale. For now, let's leave it at this: the bassist we had lined up in 2022 had some really bad things happen which stopped our plans in their tracks, and the small herd of bass players that have been auditioning since then have just not been the right fit. Enough said.
Let's focus on welcoming Guy Bazilewich into the band, and you guys just need to prepare to have your faces properly melted by us for the first time since the pandemic!
As I mentioned above, we are in rehearsals right now, and if I do say so myself, we are absolutely smokin' hot. Things are really sounding good, so the band & I are just aching to get out in front of some crowds. We all look forward to seeing you from a stage somewhere soon!
Until next time, live well & rock hard!
